Started in the C16th, Rajasthan's largest palace is the work of a succession of maharajas and sits beside the beautiful Lake Pichola. Lots of delicate, lace-marble carving, bold colours, intricate mosaics and antiques.
The Lake Palace Hotel on Jagniwas Island, where some of James Bond's Octopussy was filmed.
The most effectively repellant 'pol' (elephant gate) I've seen to date, with these beautiful golden spikes at elephant-head-height to deter butting.
